The King Canute Silver Five Pound Proof Coin
A limited edition Silver £5 Proof coin has just been issued – featuring a brand new design of King Canute – the first king to rule over a truly united realm of England.
Significantly, this year marks the millennial anniversary of King Canute’s coronation which took place in 1017 – an important milestone in Great Britain’s history.
Solid Silver with 24-Carat Gold-Plating
Struck in 925/1000 Silver to a pristine proof finish, this £5 coin is set apart by the addition of selective 24-carat gold plating. This stunningly enhances the depiction of the legendary Viking King.
Created by heraldic artist Neil Bromley, the reverse design was inspired by a famous 14th Century painting and shows King Canute sitting in front of a cross, surrounded by the four quarters of the King’s shield. The obverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Fully approved by Her Majesty the Queen, The King Canute Silver £5 Proof Coin comes presented in its own Deluxe Presentation Case alongside its Certificate of Authenticity, which guarantees its precious metal content and position within the strict edition limit.
