The 1953 Queen Elizabeth II Coronation Crown
One of the most popular UK coins of the last century
The 1953 crown was the first UK commemorative coin issued during Queen Elizabeth II's reign but it was never issued into general circulation. As a result it is always highly sought-after by collectors and coin enthusiasts, both in the UK and internationally.
Designed by sculptor Gilbert Ledward, the crown features a bold and imaginitive design with the Queen riding on horseback, which is very unusual for a British coin.
The edge inscription reads 'Faith and Truth I will Bear Unto You' which is taken from the Coronation Oath. The reverse features a crown in the centre of an emblematic cross formed from a thistle, rose, leek and shamrock.
Over the last 60 years, this has become one of the United Kingdom's most iconic coins, and has been the starting point for countless great collections.
Your Coronation Crown will arrive in protective capsule ready to display in a leatherette presentation case along with a Certificate of Authenticity.
