2011 Royal Wedding Silver Proof £5
The Official Royal Wedding Silver £5 Coin
To celebrate the marriage of Prince William and Catherine Middleton on 29th April 2011, the Royal Mint issued a silver proof £5 coin bearing the officially approved portraits of the couple.
It is only the sixth time in history that a double portrait has appeared on British coinage.
This portrait of the happy couple has been designed by Mark Richards FRBS, a British portrait sculptor. He was chosen in an invitation only process, and describes his design as inspired by ‘a feeling that pervades all the photographs I have seen of the couple together. The portraits are not posed and capture what might be a fleeting, informal moment between two people who share immense fondness for each other’. The image is taken from one of their first official engagements together.
Your coin comes ready to display in official Royal Mint packaging along with a Certificate of Authenticity confirming the metal content and edition limit.
