UK 2020 The Infamous Prison £5 BU Pack
BRAND NEW Tower of London £5 coin – the Infamous Prison
Did you know that famous prisoners of the Tower of London include Anne Boleyn, Guy Fawkes and even Princess Elizabeth, who was later crowned Elizabeth I?
For centuries, the Tower of London played the role of a prison for monarchs and commoners alike. And now this part of the Tower of London’s history is commemorated on a NEW UK £5 coin.
The reverse has been designed by heraldic artist Timothy Noad and is produced in collaboration with Historic Royal Palaces. It also features the exclusive Tower of London mint mark, that can only be found on the coin in the Tower of London series.
The design features the inscription ‘MY LIBERTIE DENIED’. These words are taken from carved ‘graffiti’ in the Beauchamp Tower attributed to Thomas Miagh, a prisoner at the Tower who was held but never charged.
